The LTC Instructor of a Concordia Language Villages Language Training Center (LTC) program is responsible for instruction and overall implementation of short-term language-specific two-to four-week long iso-immersion, blended immersion, or virtual immersion programs in accordance with client-specified expectations as guided by the Lead Instructor/Program Coordinator. This includes planning and implementation of a variety of program elements, some public relations, and, in iso-immersions, interacting with support staff from the operations areas at the Language Villages. The Instructor is responsible for implementing program elements that reflect the mission and immersion principles and methodology of Concordia Language Villages. The immersion experience also needs to be aligned with the parameters of the Concordia LTC model in accordance with the expressed needs of the LTC client. The Instructor reports to the respective LTC Lead Instructor and to the administrative team of Concordia Language Villages as a whole.
Minimum Qualifications
Superior (at minimum) proficiency in the target language/dialects and Advanced (minimum) proficiency English
Commitment to the importance of immersion language and culture education
Knowledge of effective teaching strategies and methodologies for second language learning
Strong organizational skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
B.A. degree in related field required, with advanced degree preferred
Ability to perform the essential functions of the instructor position (below)
Eligibility to be employed legally in the USA; assume responsibility and costs for any visa requirements
Sympathy with the mission of a liberal arts college affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America

Understanding of and experience with language proficiency rating scales like the ILR and the OPI
Experience with content-based language instruction for adults
Experience teaching in a Concordia Language Villages program or in a comparable language immersion environment
Experience teaching in online programs and use of Online Learning Management Systems such as Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle or Google Classroom.
