Interpretors and Translators

Per Diem Educational Interpreters & TranslatorsIndividuals available to do interpretations and/or translations, as needed, in high and low incident languages included, but not limited to Albanian, American Sign Language, Arabic, Bengali, Braille, Cape Verdean Crioulo, Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Gujarati, Haitian Creole, Ibo, Indian, Khmer, Kiche, Korean, Pilipino, Polish, Pashtu, Russian, Somali, Spanish, Tagalog, Thai, Ukrainian, Urdu, Vietnamese, Yoruba and other languages as District needs determine.Responsibilities Include: Facilitate communication between New Bedford Public School parents/guardians and school staff through interpreting services. This includes bridging language and cultural barriers in order to protect educational rights of families and their children.Translate written documents (e.g. letters, flyers, brochures, handbooks, IEP, report cards, Student Success Plans, etc.)Edit and proofread text to accurately languageReach families by phone and interpret basic communication needed (e.g. attendance, nurse questions/answers, school reminders, school event invites, etc.)Follow ethical codes that protect the confidentiality of information.Provide linguistic and cultural assistance to the parents/guardians and the NBPS staff members as needed and appropriate.This is a non-union position and hours may vary$35 per hour certified interpreter and/or translator$25 per hour non-certified interpreter and/or translator Please send resume, availability (days, times) and cover letter to: Sonia WalmsleyExecutive Director of Educational Access and [email protected]
