The Jiyan Foundation for Human Rights is seeking applicants for the position of Grants and Partnership Development Coordinator at Erbil branch in Kurdistan-Iraq.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  1. Supports the TL-GD, DoO, Heads of Programs (HoP), and Center Managers (CM) with the development of new grants and related projects and activities.
  2. Supports the TL-GD, DoO and HoP with the evaluation, adaptation, development and expansion of ongoing projects and activities.
  3. Coordinates with Project Coordinators, HoP, Center Managers regarding needs and ideas for new projects and grants.
  4. Coordinates with the DoO after successful grant approval for the handover to the Department of Operations.
  5. Supports the TL-GD with the exploration of potential funding opportunities, identifies potential new donors, and oversees contacts with donors and funders in collaboration with TL-GD.
  6. Researches, assesses and communicates new funding opportunities and informs TL-GD, DoO and other relevant Jiyan staff about upcoming funding opportunities.
  7. Coordinates the project proposal writing processes for selected grants (especially for grants in Iraq): communicates with Directors, DoP, Center Managers and M&E team about their input for proposals.
  8. Is in contact with donors regarding needs and ideas for new projects in coordination with TL-GD, DoO, Project Coordinators, DoP, Center Managers.
  9. Coordinates with the Finance Department regarding the agreed cash flow of existing grants (under- and overspending) and the development of project budgets for proposals with support of the TL-GD
  10. In coordination with the DoO and TL-GD explores partnerships for joint projects (national and international organizations), sets up meetings to discuss potential cooperation, explores synergies between Jiyan and other organizations with local and international stakeholders in Iraq .
  11. Leads proactively the communication and the development of forms of cooperation for grants development and proposals to know about funding upcoming opportunities and analyze funding decisions taken by the stakeholders.
  12. Coordination with the Jiyan PR Team/department to ensure the visibility of Jiyan, its partners and respective donors in order to be known for their work and working approaches.

 

FRAMEWORK OF THE POSITION

 

The GPDC is supervised by TL-GD, and part of the GDT lead by the HoSPD (TL-GD) and through his technical guidance/advice, mentoring and taking part in the virtual team meetings and other working formats of the GDT. The line manager will be the center manager of Erbil (as part of the general management structure of Jiyan).

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

REQUIREMENTS

  1. Very good English skills in listening, speaking and writing
  2. Fluent in Kurdish (preferably Sorani and Kurmanji) and Arabic
  3. Completed bachelor’s degree or higher for example in English, Business Administration, Social Sciences or similar
  4. Flexible and strategic mindset, good communication skills (flexible, clear, concise)
  5. Experience of at least two years in fundraising and/or donor relations, at least two years in project coordination or implementation,
  6. Plan and good time management and ability to independently organize workload
  7. Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
  8. Excellent presentation skills
  9. Willingness to work occasionally variable hours, readiness for business trips.
  10. Advanced familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (especially MS Word and Excel) and email communication
  11. Ability to work in an interdisciplinary and international team, cooperate with other staff members, centers and external partners
  12. Active interest in promoting human rights and social justice; awareness of current events both nationally and internationally
