Summary You will serve as a Lead Emergency Response Dispatcher in the Emergency Management Department of NAVSUPPACT BAHRAIN. Responsibilities You will be responsible for work assignments of the other dispatchers, and that they are carried out effectively and efficiently in accordance with applicable laws, regulation, policies and procedures. You will receive emergency and non-emergency requests by telephone, mobile radio calls, mobile data computers or automatic alarms throughout the Navy Installation. You will obtain essential information from the computer aided dispatch system or caller and dispatch the correct emergency response units. You will communicate, via radio, with responding personnel to pass pertinent information regarding hazards that may be present at the emergency scene and obtain additional assets if requested by the Incident Commander. You will coordinate with military and civilian agencies in response to mutual aid requests, in accordance with locally established protocols. You will operate a variety of communications equipment such as Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), emergency radios, Enhanced-911 (E-911), Enterprise Land Mobile Radio (ELMR), Telecommunication Devices for the Deaf (TDD), and computers. You will receive, analyze and disseminate information for many purposes including, but not limited to calls of distress, requests for non-emergency medical assistance, information inquiries, official notifications, and administrative communications. You will provide post-dispatch and pre-arrival instructions and maintain knowledge of all response resources available. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1. Responding to emergency and non-emergency calls for assistance via 9-1-1, admin phone lines and radio; and 2. Providing medical direction over the phone in response to emergency and non-emergency calls for assistance; and 3. Utilizing equipment (such as Computer Aided Dispatch, Geographic Information System MAP, Fire and Intrusion Detection System (IDS) alarm systems and Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS)) to obtain essential information requests and dispatch the correct emergency response units. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You must have color vision adequate to distinguish between green, red and yellow lights on alarm and equipment control panels and to read from multi-colored computer screen. You must be able to write and speak English clearly and distinctly so that they are easily understood over the telephone and radio and documentation is easily readable. You must be able to clearly hear conversations over the phone, and radio, regardless of the age or sex of the caller and to distinguish between different audible alarm tones used in dispatch. You may use hearing correction devices to augment their natural hearing in order to meet the requirements listed. Education No minimum education requirements. Employees hired from continental U.S. will receive Sunday Premium Pay (computed at 25% of basic hourly rate, eight hours per week). Commute area is defined as the geographic area surrounding the duty location in which people can reasonably be expected to travel back and forth daily.
