Language Assessment Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY: To assist the English Learner (EL) and World Language (WL) Department and the Parent Information Center to adequately welcome, assess, and place multilingual students while guiding their families through the registration process and connecting them to appropriate community resources in order to deliver Revere Public Schools high expectations, including equal access to high levels of instruction, achievement of academic proficiency for all students, and closing opportunity gaps among all subgroups in our schools.MISSION OF REVERE PUBLIC SCHOOLS: Provide personalized and meaningful education to all students so that they individually experience superior personal development by: Engaging all members of our educational community in the decision-making process.Ensuring rigor and relevance throughout all curricular areas.Ensuring positive relationships among all members of the school community.Fostering resilience within all members of the school community.Fostering and celebrating innovation throughout our system.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Bachelors Degree preferred. Current MA DESE licensure in ESL & SEI Endorsement preferred.TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Experience assessing PK-12th grade English Language Learners with the W-APT, WIDA Screener, and other screening tools. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, and Excel.Languages: Fluency in English and Spanish required (Portuguese or Arabic a plus). Familiarity with community resources in Revere and/or surrounding areas.SKILLS AND ABILITY: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

This job description does not constitute an employment agreement between the employer and employee, and is subject to change by the employer, as the needs of the employer and the requirements of the job change.Coordinate and manage the master testing schedule in conjunction with PIC staffCoordinate and manage the master student placement schedule in conjunction with the Director of the EL and WL Dept. and PIC staffDevelop plans for student placement, when necessaryManage student placements in consultation with others including PIC staff and the Special Education DepartmentLiaison with schools to explain/support the assignment process and student needsVisit schools to follow up with students and build relationships with leadershipAssess incoming students with the W-APT, WIDA Screener, Pre-las, ipt and/ or native language assessmentsExplain test results and different EL programs to parents in order to assist with program placement decisionDesign initial identification plan for incoming SLIFE studentsConduct SLIFE Pre-screener and interview with families and studentsOversee the maintenance of all paperwork for ELL student records/foldersSupport registrars at PIC to register non-English speaking parents, when necessaryCoordinate community-based supports and services for the bilingual families and ELPAC (English Learner Parent Advisory Council)Attend joint meetings with the parent information center staffSupport the district as needed with written/verbal communication with multilingual families (translation/interpretation)Present/arrange with community groups to present to families on topics of interestPerformance of other job-related duties as assigned.REPORTS TO: Director of EL and WL Programs CONTRACT: THIS IS A NON-BARGANNING UNIT POSITION SALARY: $52,000Interested candidates should submit the following information to Jennifer LaBollita, our EL and WL Director, [email protected], ccing me, by Wednesday, August 18th1.
