The Project:
Pathways Home: Livelihood and MHPSS Support for Returnees in Baghdad and Dhi Qar is a one-year project funded by GIZ. The project goal is increase livelihood support, comprehensive mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) services, and legal services for Iraqis who have returned from the European Union, specifically Germany, as well as Iraqi IDPs and host community members. The project consists of three domains of activities: (1) Livelihood support; (2) Case management and MHPSS support; (3) Legal support. Project activities will be implemented in Baghdad and Dhi Qar governorates. Mobile support may also extend to Anbar, Kerbala, and Basra.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Lead case manager will be based in Baghdad with travels to Basra and Dhi Qar, Iraq The Lead Case Manager will work under the administrative supervision of the project manager and be responsible for providing case management services for urgent and sensitive cases. The lead case manager will ensure participant-centered services are provided, ensuring proper safety planning and referrals are provided when needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1.Project implementation support
- Provide robust case management services to beneficiaries, identifying needs and coordinating referrals based on the beneficiaries’ needs.
- Manage referrals, and work to develop beneficiary wellbeing with the support of mobile teams.
- Develop action plans to address the needs of the participant and follow up on the provision of services.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholder to provide key information necessary to ensure comprehensive services to the participant.
- Maintain timely, confidential case documentation;
- Encourage and contribute to a safe and collaborative working environment where self-care as well as care of colleagues is prioritized.
- Supervising case management team.
- Providing case management training to the case management team
- Lead on case conference discussions
2.Communication and Monitoring & Evaluation
- Collaborate closely with Legal team, MHPSS team, Livelihood team social workers and the field coordinator to continuously assess status of the case against the case plan;
- Ensure accurate data reporting and collection;
- Supports compilation and writing of daily, monthly and quarterly updates.
- Updating the case tracker database

Qualifications & Preferred Skills
Education and Experience:
Essential:
- A bachelor degree in sociology or social work, counselling or other relevant field is required.
- Minimum three years of relevant work experience in case management, social work.
- Minimum two years’ experience in team management
- Experience in working in the social sector, particularly with IDPs or refugees, or with programs focused on children, adolescents, or women.
- Previous experience or understanding of the human rights, social and political environment in Iraq.
- A strong commitment to human rights, including gender equality and child safeguarding, and to implementation of international human rights law.
Ability to reside in and travel within federal Iraq and KRI should the security allow it.
Language Skills:
Arabic is required, English is preferred.
Other Skills and Qualifications (required):
- Excellent oral communication skills
- Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills, with the ability to proactively problem solve and find solutions
Computer Skills:
- Experience with Windows platform, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook email, etc.
- Experience in working on online databases

Location: Heartland Alliance International’s Iraq program is headquartered in Sulaymaniyah, a city of nearly one million people in northern Iraq’s Kurdistan Region. This position will be based in Baghdad, and will require site visits to Dhi Qar, Basra and KRI as needed.
