Job Summary

The Department of Middle East Studies at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor invites applications for a full-time (100%) lecturer position in Arabic Language, beginning January 1, 2022. This is a benefits-eligible position.

Responsibilities*

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, teaching two sections of First and/or Second Year Arabic. Due to the replacement nature of this appointment, funding for this position will only be available for Winter 2022.

Required Qualifications*

Experience with teaching Arabic at the post-secondary level is required. Applicants must have a demonstrated understanding of and ability to use a proficiency-based, communicative methodology in language instruction. Minimum of a Master’s degree in foreign language teaching or equivalent field required.

Desired Qualifications*

Applicants should have Superior level proficiency in Standard Arabic, English, and at least one variety of spoken Arabic.

Union Affiliation

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
