Function prerequisite:
The Explosive Search and Disposal Mechanical Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day to day mechanical operations in a multitude of clearance tasks throughout Iraq and which include the ‘disruption’ of improvised mines located by the teams, rubble removal from collapsed structures, opening roads and creating safe access routes. The work will be in accordance with NPA’s SOPs, operational implementation plans and directions from TFM, s or Site supervisors.
Responsibilities:
The roles and responsibilities of the Mechanical Operator are as follows:
- Oversee daily operations
- Complete documentation as required
- Assist with implementation plans when requested
- Ensure all mechanical operations are in compliance with NPA SOPs and NTSG’s.
- Assist Site supervisors to ensure machines are deployed on a daily basis
- Notify Mechanical TFM of any problems encountered
- Ensure servicing is carried out when required and complete service records
- Adhere to all NPA policies, regulations and procedures.
- Ensure that all issued tools and equipment are in good working condition.
- Ensure that the mechanical site markings are accurately placed, clearly visible, and maintained.
- Follow the instructions of the TFM or Site Supervisor
- Ensure all work is stopped if critical issues are discovered, and don’t start work until they have been resolved.
- Ensure that all work is in accordance with NPA’s high standards.
Required qualifications:
- Previous mechanical experience required.
- Previous experience in mechanical operations essential
- Successfully pass any test or accreditation set by NPA
- English language essential
- Basic IT skills essential.
Experience:
Must have: Minimum of 2 years field work experience with IED/ERW with a commercial company or NGO
Desirable: · Experience with armoured mechanical assets and various attachments used to assist in the removal of IED/ERW.
Other qualifications:
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Good communication and understanding skills.
- Able to work effectively under stressful situations, & adapt to, difficult conditions.
- Willingness & ability to travel within the country.
- Full Valid driving license.
