Context/Reporting line:

Under the overall supervision of IOM Iraq MHPSS Programme Coordinator, the administrative supervision of

the Head of Sub Office (HoSO) and the direct supervision of the National MHPSS officer in close coordination

with MHPSS Team Leader in Ninewa and CSU Area Coordinator, the successful candidate will be responsible

for supporting the MHPSS programme activities by performing the following functions and responsibilities:

Core Functions / Responsibilities

1. Participate in the continuous need’s assessment component of the project: collect data, facilitate group

discussions in the communities targeted under the project and deliver written reports with that input.

2. Develop, manage, and facilitate activity plan in close collaboration with the MHPSS TL and the area

coordinator. Performs the needs assessment in target communities and, in line with the findings of the

aforementioned needs assessment support the development of community-based activities.

3. Offer individual support and counselling to beneficiaries if required under supervision of the MHPSS

TL and MHPSS officer in Ba’aj and other districts and sub-districts of Ninewa.

4. Conduct community outreach activities, ensuring inclusiveness of vulnerable and marginalized

populations in project activities, aiming at integrating MHPSS and social cohesion activities.

5. Organize and lead support groups, focus group discussions and awareness raising sessions and

contribute to development of messages related to MHPSS awareness raising and sensitization.

6. Assist the area coordinator, MHPSS TL and MHPSS National officer in the overall management of the

project, including administrative, coordination, and project development functions

7. Implement MHPSS programme activities on COVID-19 response, including trainings, consultations,

and structured support.

8. Develop individualized and case -centered support plans and provides detailed information about the

identified/registered beneficiaries to the Psychologist and the MHPSS TL.

9. Participate in the continuous monitoring and evaluation of the programme and the integration of work

with activities the social cohesion and other CSU programme activities on governorate level.

10. Participate in the capacity building activities arranged by CSU for local stakeholders on MHPSS topics,

especially stress management and MHPSS needs of the local population.

11. Provide Psychosocial first aid and emotional support to affected population in case of sudden/on-going

emergency.

12. Ensuring that PSS approach is maintained in different sectors in programs implementations.

13. Ensure that hardcopy and electronic information systems are maintained, particularly the important

notes of all key monitoring, implementation, and coordination activities.

14. Any other duty as may be assigned by the area coordinator or MHPSS national officer.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Educational Psychology, or other relevant social

sciences from an academic accredit university or institute.

Experience and Skills:

At least 2 years of professional experience in similar context and working in the humanitarian or

development sector, of which at least 1 year involves mental health, psychosocial support, social

cohesion, and capacity building programs.

Experience in communicating and working with a wide range of people including people of culturally

diverse backgrounds.

Experience in capacity building for local NGOs or social programmes is a strong advantage.

Experience in communicating and working with a wide range of people including people of culturally

Languages:

Fluency in English and Arabic is required.

Fluency in any other language is an advantage.
