Position: New Family Ambassador

Reports to: Manager of Enrollment

Location: Central Office – Denver, CO

Salary: Hourly pay of $20/hour, maximum of 20 hours per week*

OVERVIEW OF ROLE

STRIVE Prep is a Denver-based community of K-12 public charter schools that challenges every student to discover and develop the skills and confidence necessary to succeed in college and beyond. The New Family Ambassador will reach out to and connect with prospective families throughout the lifecycle starting from being interested in a STRIVE Prep school through becoming enrolled at a STRIVE Prep school.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

With our core values driving your daily approach to the work, the successful New Family Ambassador will perform the following essential functions of the role:

Communicate effectively the mission, vision and academic model of STRIVE Prep to potential students and families, community members and other audiences.

Connect with prospective families to share information about STRIVE Prep, through a variety of channels – this may be initial cold calls, follow-up calls during the exploration and application phases, or welcome conversations upon acceptance to STRIVE Prep. This may occur via phone call, text message, or email. If this position extends into the 2021-22 school year, there is potential for in-person responsibilities when in-person learning resumes.

Learn how to use the SchoolMint application and escalate any issues to the Manager of Enrollment or Office of Choice and Enrollment Services.

Utilizing strong communication skills, assist prospective and transitioning current families with completing the Denver Public Schools School Choice application (Jan. 15-Feb. 16th for round 1, and again starting in April for round 2).

Answer questions relating to the school for prospective families and follow-up on families’ questions as needed.

Attend Open Houses and share your experience with prospective families.

Upon acceptance to a STRIVE Prep school, reach out to welcome new families and answer questions.

Contact STRIVE Prep schools as a “secret shopper” and provide feedback on the customer service experience to help continuously improve the experience for prospective families.

Represent STRIVE Prep with professionalism and excellent customer service at all times and demonstrate resilience with all types of calls and call outcomes.

REQUIREMENTS (OR PREFERENCES WHERE NOTED)

Bilingual Spanish/English (minimum of conversational Spanish) OR bilingual in English and another language widely represented in our student population (Vietnamese, Amharic, Somali, Nepali, Arabic)

Experience with Google Voice, Google Sheets, and Google Docs (preferred)

Familiar with STRIVE Prep schools, i.e. current or past parent of STRIVE Prep student or Alumnus of STRIVE Prep (preferred)

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

This is a part-time non-exempt position and is eligible for the following compensation and benefits:

Hourly pay of $20/ hour, maximum of 20 hours per week.

Flexible schedule; working hours are generally between 8am-6pm Monday through Friday, unless families request communication outside of those hours.

Access to a staff laptop and Google Voice number, plus training on all necessary systems.

Participation in the Colorado Public Employee Retirement Association (PERA) pension program (in lieu of Social Security tax) with an option to elect into a competitive 401(k) plan.

This position is not eligible for medical benefits or paid time off. This position is eligible for Sick Leave under Colorado Law.
