UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development; human rights; as well as humanitarian action and peace and security. Placing women’s rights at the center of all its efforts, UN Women leads and coordinates United Nations system efforts to ensure that commitments on gender equality and gender mainstreaming translate into action throughout the world. It provides strong and coherent leadership in support of Member States’ priorities and efforts, building effective partnerships with civil society and other relevant actors.

The ongoing threat to public health caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has deepened pre-existing inequalities even further with the impact expected to be seen in increased unemployment, aggravated poverty, income loss, job insecurity, industry-specific inequalities, to education lag, and the stalling of efforts to reduce the gender gap in Kosovo. To address the above, UN Women is implementing the Project “Gender component in Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) management and Social Dialogue” as part of UNOPS Program on promoting decent work through strengthening Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) management and Social Dialogue.” as part of UNOPS Program on promoting decent work through strengthening Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) management and Social Dialogue. The long-term goal of the programme is set against SDG 8 and its particular target 8 to ‘protect labour rights and promote safe and secure working environments for all workers’. In this light the gender component implemented through this project’s activities will focus on gender responsive promotion of decent work and OSH standards with the ultimate aim to foster women’s economic empowerment. In addition, it will provide detailed knowledge regarding women specific working conditions, including maternity leave protection, work organization as well as protection from gender-based discrimination and/or violence at the workplace.

Considering this, UN Women is seeking to engage a local licenced company to provide the following services:
1. Conduct comprehensive safety audit in the workplace for selected companies
2. Examine implementation level of occupational safety and Health standads and legislation provisions;
3. Engage licenced expertise in the process to conduct the safety audit with special focus on the most vulnerable groups;
4. Formulate detailed improvment plans and capacity building on OSH for the management for audited companies on OSH
