This Patient and Family Liaison will be responsible for:
Communicating with families in emergency services throughout their waiting time. Establishing and maintaining effective, appropriate professional relationships with patients and families, in collaboration with clinical care team
Maintaining ongoing communications between families waiting to be seen and the Charge Nurse and Triage Nurse. Providing frequent updates to patients/families regarding wait time, and providing other information as requested by each family
Attending and participating in patient rounds and unit/department meetings, as appropriate. Participating as a member of interdisciplinary team to plan programs, care for patients and participate in continuous quality improvement efforts on the unit
Providing information and guidance to families who are considering leaving without being seen. Communicating issues as they arise to the medical team
Demonstrating professionalism, communicating and documenting appropriately
Partnering with the Child Life Staff to ensure patient/family needs are met, both in the waiting area and the exam room
Attending classes/in-house training on patient/family satisfaction. Reporting trends in family satisfaction/family concerns to the Nursing Director
Providing positive and effective customer service that supports departmental and hospital operations
To qualify, you must have:
A high school diploma or GED is required
Experience in a healthcare or customer service setting is strongly preferred
The analytical skills to resolve problems that require the use of basic scientific, mathematical, or technical principles
The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and provide empathy in difficult interpersonal situations
Fluency in Spanish or Arabic would be a plus
Schedule: 4 shifts per week from 4pm – 12:30am
Please note: During a public health emergency, individuals in this role may be expected to take on additional duties to respond to organizational needs.
