The Program Associate is the entry level position for program work at IRI, and provides administrative and programmatic support for current and developing programs on the MENA Regional portfolio.

Position Requirements:
Undergraduate degree in political science, international relations or related field.

0-1 year of experience in international development or related field

Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint required.

Excellent writing, research and communication skills.

Working knowledge of the MENA region politics required.

Familiarity with procurement regulations preferred.

Advanced written and spoken Arabic or French skills strongly preferred

Experience living or working abroad preferred, particularly in the MENA region.

Primary Functions & Responsibilities:
Monitors, analyzes, and reports on relevant political developments in designated country

Drafts quarterly, semi-annual, final and other relevant reports for funders

Drafts, edits and summarizes weekly reports for internal and funder audiences

Tracks and follows-up on pending procurement requests, approvals and monitoring once approved, including processing payments

Assists in monitoring project spending and projecting costs; cross-references with project spending reports on a monthly basis and interacts with appropriate Project Accountant and other Accounting staff

Compiles and facilitates submission of contract packages for program activities

Serves as point of contact for RFP solicitations and compiles submitted materials for the RFP evaluation process and other procurement items

Updates program databases, contract trackers, etc.

Maintains project site and documents on IRI’s internal SharePoint system

Supports IRI’s communication strategy including IRI’s branding and outreach plans on projects assigned, including drafts and updates program summaries and other outreach materials, drafts web stories, tweets, etc.

Assists with program monitoring and evaluation (M&E), including participating in regular M&E calls, tracking compliance with Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Plan, and identifying where adjustments need to be made

Provides logistical support for DC meetings and events for the Regional Division, as needed

Participates in program design and strategy brainstorming sessions

Participates in business development, such as in writing proposal portions and drafting budgets

Participates in cross functional teams and initiatives (optional)

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

Required

Bachelors or better in Political Science or related field.

Experience

Required

Less than 1 year: • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint required. • Excellent writing, research and communication skills. • Working knowledge of the MENA region politics required. • Familiarity with procurement regulations preferred. • Advanced written and spoken Arabic or French skills strongly preferred • Experience living or working abroad preferred, particularly in the MENA region.
