What PAH is about:

Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH) is a non-governmental organization. For 25 years, we have been providing relief in emergencies worldwide. We also run missions in several countries in crisis. Our interventions – of both humanitarian and development character – have been carried out in 44 countries so far. We concentrate on ensuring sustainable and stable development of regions suffering the consequences of war and/or natural disasters. We possess long-standing expertise in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), but also implement projects in Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL), as well as Nutrition and Education. PAH in Iraq:

We returned to Iraq at the end of 2016 to respond to the needs of the civilian population caused by the fighting in Mosul. In 2017 PAH reached in total 53 000 beneficiaries with emergency assistance in Mosul and Erbil Governorate. 

PAH’s current activities in Iraq include:

• swift reaction to the humanitarian crisis in Iraq.
• improvement of quality of all actions, assuring more adequate humanitarian response, following humanitarian standards and requirements of local communities.
• response based on complementary programs and projects which are created in coordination with local authorities and local communities.
• support of Iraqi employees in the improvement of personal potential and professional capacity.

 

 

Who PAH is looking for:

PAH in Iraq is looking for a Project Assistant under who will undertake duties and responsibilities related to the project in the PAH Sinjar office. 

 

The person will hold the following responsibilities:

1. Coordinate with the Project Coordinator to define triggers for the assessment.
2. Coordinate with Project Coordinator in order to plan needs assessment in selected location.
3. Coordinate with MEAL Coordinator and Project Coordinator in preparation of assessment plan and ToR.
4. Supervise enumerators in conducting of assessment in the field
5. Perform Beneficiary Registration for and collecting data on paper and mobile tools.
6. Coordinate with Project Coordinator to define triggers for intervention
7. Assist Project Coordinator and MEAL Coordinator to define beneficiary registration form and field tools.
8. Coordinate with Project Coordination the design and plan for the distribution.
9. Prepare the distribution site and manage the process of distribution in the field.
10. Assure proper and dignified treatment of beneficiaries and prepare report from the distribution.
11. Other works delegated by the Supervisor.
12. Conduct all activities and perform work in accordance to Humanitarian Principles, PAH standards and PAH Code of Conduct.
13. Overseeing Shelter rehabilitation in accordance to the plan

Required Qualifications and Competencies:

 

1. 1. Two years of relevant work experience, with a focus implementation of shelter and MPCA projects in Iraq; work experience in Sinjar district is an advantage.
   2. High level of initiative and proactive approach to building relationships.
   3. Experience in field level coordination with community stakeholders, local and international NGOs, and local government officials.
   4. Experience in conducting data collection exercises (Qualitative and Quantitative)
   5. Knowledge of the context in Iraq specifically in regards to Shelter and MPCA.
   6. Fluency in Arabic language with basic knowledge of English language, Kurdish is an asset.
   7. Good computer skills, especially in Word and Excel. Knowledge of data collection tools is a plus.
