Context:
Under the general guidance of the Chief of Mission, under overall supervision of the Head, Returns and Recovery Units and the direct supervision of the Senior Coordinator (Durable Solutions Working Grp), the Project Assistant will be responsible to perform the following duties
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
- Assist in monitoring durable solutions trends and continuous tracking of durable solutions pathways across Iraq and highlight key issues on pathways at governorate level.
- Obtains and consolidate up to date information and issues from the field related to returns, organize incoming and outgoing correspondence, and compile relevant abstracts from the Rapid Response Teams, Project staff, government and stakeholders on a regular basis.
- In coordination with the DS coordination colleagues, identify core advocacy concerns, and contribute to key messages to broader advocacy initiatives on durable solutions at National level.
- In coordination with the Information Management Team and field -based colleagues, compile monthly and regular updates, briefs and reports on returns. Maintains a data collection and analysis mechanisms and shares relevant information with partners.
- Preparation of the related documentation in Arabic, Kurdish and English for all the reports and documents.
- Support in preparation of work plans, related correspondence and progress reports, background documents and field reports.
- Support the national and field level of durable solutions coordination meetings, including logistical and administrative (internal liaison with RRU Admin, logistics, HR etc).
- Maintain monthly work plan, takes, maintains and disseminate all agenda and coordination minutes and related documentation from meetings.
- Coordinate and maintain calendar of meetings, arrange appointments, draft correspondence, research for briefing materials and follow-up of action points from partners.
- Draft correspondence and reports covering durable solutions coordination issues, compile statistical data, conduct follow up and respond to queries.
- Maintenance of directory and mailing list of partners.
- Assist the National Liaison Officer (Durable Solutions) for KRI in coordinating with the relevant local authorities in KRI, including JCC, DMCR.
- Coordinate with Head of Sub-Office, RARTS, community stakeholders to identify key return issues, opportunities, and barriers to sustainable returns.
- Conduct field visits in major return areas and assist in coordination with local authorities, agencies in the field, community leaders and other UN agencies on main return dynamics.
- Conduct preparatory activities such as joint assessments with other programs, prepare and share updates on major return highlights.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science, Social Work, or a related field from an accredited academic institution, with Three years of relevant professional experience; or
- Completed High School degree from accredited academic institution with five years relevant professional experience.
Experience
- Experience working on displacement-related issues and durable solutions at the field level.
- Strong computer background including experience with relational database and Microsoft applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook and MS Teams.
- Experience with coordination work with different sectors including humanitarian, development and peacebuilding.
- Support adequate levels of information sharing between internal units, partners, IOM and other emergency response actors.
Languages
- Fluency in English, Kurdish and Arabic are required;
- Any other language is an advantage.
