SWEDO is a Swedish non-profit, non-political, non-religious development aid organization that was founded in 1991 in Stockholm, Sweden. Having continuously operated in the Kurdistan Region ever since, SWEDO’s main priorities of work are construction and infrastructure activities, refugee and IDP initiatives, health, water, sanitation and hygiene, and capacity building.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Transport of SWEDO staff and the authorized passengers by use their own vehicle (preferably SUV) to the required destination.
  • Fuel, maintenance and other needs of the vehicle will be covered by the driver.
  • Plan routes, in conjunction with the SWEDO Security Units, ensuring the safety of passengers at all times, ensuring a detailed knowledge of the safest routes within the region.
  • Deliver and collect mails, documents and other items, and meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport.
  • Ensure accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs.
  • Ensure proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes, car washing, etc.
  • Ensure availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office directory, and map of the city/country, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts in the assigned vehicle.
  • Ensure that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents.
  • Guarding the vehicle when parked outside SWEDO compound.
  • Adhere to all safety requirements.
  • Maintain the service and appearance of the vehicle.
  • Uphold SWEDO’s code of conduct, and ensure that all people of concerns are treated with dignity and respect, in accordance with humanitarian principles and human rights standards.
  • Conduct other duties as assigned by Logistic Officer.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

  • High school degree or Diploma;
  • Driving license is mandatory;
  • Two years previous experience in the same position at international NGO or any related offices;
  • Fluency in Kurdish and Arabic, English is an asset;
  • You will need great hand-eye coordination to make sure you are accident free;
  • Good Vision: You will have to watch everything on the road for potential collisions, accidents and mishaps;
  • Punctuality: Drivers are expected to get to their destination on time. Being able to manage your time wisely will help you with that;
  • Hearing: You will need to hear passenger instruction, talk to dispatchers, and speak with people at the delivery site. Good hearing is a must
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds;
  • Personal commitment, efficiency, flexibility, and drive for results.
