Senior Assignment Editor-United States
The Sr. Assignment Editor is responsible for managing assignments, dealing with logistics, overseeing the dissemination of assignments to the Regional Assignment Editors and DC-based Multimedia Producers. You will be developing ideas for features and special stories while planning and coordinating those as well.
Are you good at seeking out and reporting on the vast stories of America’s intricate and diverse ethnic groups, cultures, languages, political parties, careers, institutions and more, wherever they might be in your US region? Are you able to single-handedly produce such stories for TV, Radio and Digital platforms, at the rate of one per day? If the answer is yes, then Middle East Broadcasting Networks’ US Unit is for you! The US Unit is part of MBN’s larger mission to increase the sources of reliable and accurate news and commentary in the Middle East and North Africa, and produce stories accurately representing American life.
Candidates are required to have:
Bachelor’s degree in journalism (or related field).
10 years of experience working in multimedia US-focused journalism.
Demonstrated understanding of the USA and its people, values and policies, as well as how these relate to countries, people, values and policies outside the USA.
Strong news judgment; ensure journalistic standards of fairness, accuracy and relevancy.
Fluent in spoken and written English and Modern Standard Arabic.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and cloud-based office products (i.e. Google Drive).
Proficiency in utilizing industry-standard audio, video and image creation tools (i.e. Adobe Premiere Pro, Audition, Photoshop)
