Sr. Education Specialist, Jordan Nonstate Schools Case, Jordan (Remote)*

Project Objective:
The objective of this study is to provide USAID Jordan and the Jordan Ministry of Education (MoE) with information about low-cost private schooling in Jordan in order to better understand the nonstate schooling sector and identify potential opportunities to partner with this sector to achieve national educational development goals.
Position Description:
SI is seeking an individual to fulfill the role of the Sr. Education Specialist for this Jordan Nonstate Schools case study. The Sr. Education Specialist will contribute expertise in nonstate schooling and education systems in the MENA region to the design, implementation, and dissemination of the study, work with the data analyst to oversee quantitative data collection, storage, cleaning, analysis, and visualization, work with the Sr. Research Specialist to communicate with the MoE and other stakeholders over efforts to collect data and gather information, and develop significant portions of the analysis documents and final report. The study will begin in August 2021 and is projected to last until January 2022. It is envisioned that the Sr. Education Specialist will support the Team Lead and the research team remotely with data collection being conducted by local team members in September-November depending on the results of the desk review and feedback received from USAID on the study design.
Responsibilities:
- Provide subject matter expertise related to education programming in Jordan
- Assis in determining site visit locations and support the drafting of the work plan
- Undertake virtual fieldwork as required
- Support the drafting of required deliverables, including: the inception report and desk review; data collection tools; client in-brief and out-brief presentations; draft and final reports; and learning and dissemination materials and events
- Work closely with the Team Leader and SI HQ team and communicate in a timely and effective manner with all project personnel
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Master’s degree in a field of study relevant to education, research, or monitoring and evaluation, master’s degree or higher preferred.
- At least eight years of related experience in international development, particularly related to qualitative research and/or monitoring and evaluation, education, and the MENA region.
- Expertise in the subject of education, with specific expertise focused on nonstate schooling in the MENA region.
- Familiarity with conducting quantitative or qualitative data collection (e.g. key informant interviews, focus group discussions, etc.) required.
- Previous experience facilitating learning events highly preferred.
- Strong oral communication, presentation, and writing skills.
- Exceptional organizational, analytical, writing, and presentation skills.
- Fluency in English required. Fluency in Arabic a plus.
