Chemonics seeks a Senior New Business Associate for the Middle East and North Africa Regional Business Unit (MENA RBU). The MENA RBU portfolio includes current projects and new business in Jordan, Lebanon, Tunisia, and Libya; new business in the West Bank, Egypt, and Morocco; and covers a wide variety of technical sectors including economic growth, water and energy, democracy and governance, and peace, stability, and transition. The Associate will provide advanced support to the division’s new business strategy and development efforts. They will also manage and share internal and external knowledge, use internal networks to staff and guide proposal teams, and participate in proposal team line roles. Responsibilities:
Market Strategy Development and Portfolio Management
Participate on proposal team, support new business team during live proposal meetings through notetaking and ensuring the team has necessary resources, perform proposal quality assurance, and facilitate proposal team debriefs.
Attend internal and external events and conferences to collect information and network.
Coordinate, schedule, and facilitate new business orientation for new employees, including demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of the new business team’s functions.
Regularly check relevant external information sources, such as SAM.gov and Grants.gov, for updates, keep internal trackers and ensure files are up to date, and share timely information with the new business team.
Recruit and provide logistical support to new business consultants, including collecting biodata verification information, drafting agreements, coordinating travel logistics, tracking level of effort and payments, and submitting payment requests.
May contribute dedicated time to other work streams and functions to achieve BU goals, including: operations, project management, and technical practice contributions.
Technical
Attend technical practice meetings to share knowledge regarding the status of solicitations and capture relevant technical information to relay back to the new business team.
Support with BU operations team to properly resource new business teams within and outside of the BU.
New Business Development
Assist new business recruitment efforts for expatriate and local staff, including sourcing candidates, conducting interviews, checking references, collecting employment verification documentation, and determining finalists.
Participate on proposal teams in specific roles of increasing complexity including, but not limited to, past performance reviews, corporate capabilities, resume formatting, expatriate and local recruitment, coordinator, section writer, cost volume, and managing communications and agreements with potential and selected subcontractors. Provide mentorship as appropriate to BU staff in new business roles and best practices.
Manage administration of new business consultants, including timesheet management and processing payments for consultants.
Serve as acting new business manager and performs other duties as required.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
Minimum two years of relevant administrative or professional work experience including one year of contractual, procurement, project management, or related experience.
Experience with data entry, filing, cataloguing, retrieving, and preserving records preferred.
Communicates clearly and concisely in both verbal and written communications; strong cross-culture communication and sensitivity skills.
Demonstrated experience multitasking with attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
Demonstrated experience following standard practices and procedures, receive general instruction and supervision, and contribute to projects and initiatives.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
Works independently and as part of a team.
Demonstrated resourcefulness in problem solving and initiative to learn new skills.
Strong knowledge of MS Office applications.
Language proficiency in Arabic and/or French preferred.
Previous experience working in MENA or a demonstrated passion for working in MENA a plus.
Willingness to travel for at least 4 to 8 weeks per year.
