1. Number of vacancies: 2 ( 1 Turkish speaker & 1 Arabic speaker)
2. Location of the action: Gaziantep/TURKEY
3. Title of the project:
Empowerment of Local CSOs and Increasing Communication and Collaboration for Effective Functioning and Representation
4. Background
The overall objective of this project is to support the development of civil society by empowering (Turkish and Syrian) CSOs at the grassroots level, including enhancing their capacities and networking them together.
The capacity-building program is designed to empower the local CSOs in fundamental subjects which concern them the most. These subjects are community organizing, problem-solving, decision-making, strategic analyzing and planning, policy–making, media and advocacy.
5. Training Main Objectives:
● Understanding conflicts and problems: Analysing the roots of problems and working on conflicts/problem analysis and transformation is the first step to build consensus and agreement.
● Understanding and using systematic tools and methods: leaders should be aware of different tools that can overcome the barriers of participation such as time limits, information complexity, uncertainty, and personal differences.
● At the end of the training, trainees will be able to:
- Analyze conflicts and problems to understand the drivers and roots.
- Evaluate the alternatives and to understand the advantages and disadvantages of each of them.
- Understand the advantages and disadvantages of participatory decisions.
- Understand and practice the different levels of participation based on the participation ladder.
- Understand when it is okay to take autocratic, consultative, or collaborative decisions.
- Know the steps of the decision-making process.
- Learn and practice the different tools of participatory decision-making tools.
- Learn and practice different tools of dialogue and facilitation tools and skills.
6. Methodology:
● Learning-by-doing approach.
● Creation of the methodology and training schedule.
● Interactive, engaging teaching matters ex. Discussions, games, activities.
● Pre and Post-test.
● Conduct the evaluation of the training days.
● Follow-up and continuous supervision during training days.
● Daily Report.
7.Trainer deliverables
The following will be the expected deliverables of the consultancy:
● Training plan, including strategy and proposed methodologies and training Agenda.
● Training package + presentations + (Tutorials / manuals / guidance) any related materials.
● Evaluation of the trainer work, based on evaluation forms received from participants.
● Successful facilitation of the training.
● Technical advice and support to participants during the training/workshop.
● Attendance sheets.
● Final report on the implementation of the training (including Photos and videos with support of our media officer).
8. Duration and time frame:
● The training will be expected in October 2021.
● The training will be expected to be completed within 3 training days (24 training hours), two days per week over 2 weeks.
● The training will take place in Gaziantep city.
9. Experience and Skill Requirements: Qualifications:
● Minimum university degree in Media & Cinema Studies /Social Science/ Business Administration / Political Science or another relevant field.
● Extensive experience (at least 3 years) experience in completing for organizations/teams.
● Extensive knowledge of the civil society sector in Turkey or Syria.
● Extensive experience on building capacities.
● Demonstrated high level of professionalism and an ability to work independently and in high pressure situations under tight deadlines.
● Excellent inter-personal communication skills including experience of facilitation of training and presentation.
● Proven and demonstrated broad knowledge of and ability to utilize principles, methods, techniques and systems of media and advocacy.
● For Arabic trainer: Excellent communication and written skills in Arabic, and good command in English.
● For Turkish trainer: Excellent communication and written skills in Turkish, and good command in English .
● Turkish nationality.
