Rotation: 28/28 Normal Rotation, possible 42/42 rotation depending on isolation requirements
Role synopsis
The wellwork PE is a dynamic role reporting to the subsurface wellwork team leader based in Iraq. The role is a key part of an integrated team delivering the most active rigless intervention programme. The team deliver over 2000 activites per year that supports up to 15 MM bbls of production volume annually. There are currently 7 CT units and up to 5 e-line units performing a wide range of operations ranging from simple nitrogen lifting to complex water shut offs in both sandstone and carbonate reservoirs. There is also the opportunity to provide support for the the well workover engineer where we are operating 10 rigs delivering 170 workovers per year primarily replacing and installing new ESPs)
This is a rotational position working in Iraq leading a team of 6 junior engineers in the subsurface team. The Wellwork Petroleum Engineer, as the senior engineer in this team, is responsible for delegating work, coaching, and training the team members. This team will grow as the wellstock and job complexity increases.
The team is responsible for progressing a prioritized list of rigless opportunities into the very active schedule, following ongoing operations, and post-job review. The team is also taking the lead on continuous improvement ideas including digitization of data.
Key accountabilities
• Providing petroleum engineering/wells training, delegation and coaching to the national Engineers in the BM team. Constantly monitor development and provide support for the junior team members. Keep the team on track with a development plan.
• Regular communication with PEs to ensure the jobs are arranged on the schedule in the correct order.
• Review and correct rigless SORs.
• Check and correct programs prepared by Wells department.
• Coordinate the post job review of the rigless activities.
• Ensure digitization of data and automation with good PowerBI skills.
• Follow daily progress of rigless activity and communicate any issues as appropriate.
• Prepare weekly rigless activity summary for BM Teams.
• Contribute to the Base management multi-disciplinary well reviews.
• Maintain links with community of practices and industry-wide technological advances and apply to the field.
• Know and apply HSE policies as well as the requirements and commitments of OM: identify, control, rectify existing hazards in working area.
• Identify, and progress efficiency opportunities for subsurface and rigless teams.
• Identify and progress technologies for improving rigless activity delivery.
• Support transition of activity set with the nationalization agenda.
Essential Education
Petroleum Engineering or similar Engineering degree.
Essential experience and job requirements
• Strong mentoring, team development and coaching skills.
• Ability to remain calm, organised and lead the team under pressure.
• Experience of well interventions (coiled tubing, stimulation, eline) and well inflow performance
• Experience using PETEX Prosper software
Other essential skills and knowledge
• Experience on Production and Injection Well Management, Well & System Performance, Short term Production / Injection Optimisation.
• Well Operations experience.
Desirable criteria & qualifications
• Experience of working within a multicultural environment
• Experience of ESP Artificial Lift Management
• Experience of Waterflood and Wellwork opportunity generation and progression in a high volume activity environment.
• Anticipates future situations and plans ahead to meet them
• Data analysis and presentation techniques, e.g. Power BI.
