Information Management Officer


Job Purpose

To show the required indicators for IMU products and services through visualizing and analyzing the received raw data from the IMU’s network of enumerators in Syria after validating and cleaning it, as clear graphs, charts and tables. This job is considered a backbone of the information processing capacity.


Responsibilities

  • To process both qualitative and quantitative data (received from the data management officer) so the generated information can be further processed by the GIS and the reporting officers.
  • To create pivot tables, heatmaps, charts of assessment databases, qualitative analysis of secondary data, creating case studies etc.
  • To support the network officers and the manager in the design of assessment methodologies and sampling techniques etc.
  • To design structured questionnaires for IMU products.
  • To program the questionnaires and surveys on Kobo.
  • To set all validation rules to minimize the range of errors during field data collection.
  • To produce online interactive reports and studies based on the received data.
  • To prepare tables that contain information from the available datasets as per request.
  • To establish sampling methods for the data collection in Syria that apply the rules of representative sampling methods.
  • To clean and validate the raw data prior processing and analysis in cooperation with the network officers.
  • To archive the data including (raw data, clean data, analyzed data) on SharePoint after the closure of each project/product.
  • To process case-specific information requests.
  • To attend Cluster meetings, present IMU products there and engage with UN cluster leads.
  • To present IMU products in professional way in English/Arabic languages in meetings.
  • To prepare relevant reports.

Note: the above mentioned key responsibilities/accountabilities are illustrative ones. Another future responsibilities/accountabilities may be assigned to the job depending on the department organizational chart. **

Qualification (Education/Work Experience/Languages)

A. Essential:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in software engineering or Mathematical Statistics.
  • Language: Arabic language advanced level; English language advanced level; Turkish basic level.
  • Work Experience: A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in data analysis, studies and visualization.

B. Desirable:

  • Education: Master’s degree in software engineering or Mathematical Statistics.
  • Language: Arabic language advanced level; English language advanced level; Turkish intermediate level.
  • Work Experience: A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in data analysis, studies and visualization.

  • Excellent command of M.S Office Excel: key functions VLOOKUP, if…. , Data sort and filters, formatting, editing, data validation, charts, pivot tables.
  • Excellent command of PowerBI/Tableau: Advanced level of knowing the data analysis and visualization techniques.
  • Good command of SPSS: familiarity with Boxplot function and familiarity with correlation functions and tools that test correlation functions.
  • Good command of SQL Server: SQL server syntax, SQL query syntax, SQL commands.
  • Excellent command of M.S Office Word: organizing word documents, text formatting, document layout, and dealing with tables.
  • Good command of GIS Software: ARC Gis, ARC Gis Online: image Geo-referencing, Digitizing and editing features, establishing geodatabase, feature dataset, feature class and shapefile, work with arc toolbox, work with spatial analyst tools, work with data management tools, projection and transformation, layers symbology, GIS online referents apps, query, join and relate tables, layout tools and technics, Arc-Catalogue, geoprocessing tools.
  • Good command of sphere standards.

  • Good command of Kobo, ODK Aggregate: Questionnaire design, basic options of Kobo, testing tools.
  • Excellent command of DAX statements: Advanced level of knowing the DAX expressions.
  • Experience with relation and non-relation database system and data modeling
  • Excellent command of PowerBI/Tableau: Advanced level of knowing the data analysis and visualization techniques.
