Role Purpose
This role will support the design, development and delivery of English programming in Iraq and Jordan, by providing academic management expertise.
The role will focus on delivering existing programming in Jordan and developing future programming in Iraq, in both the informal and formal education sectors. The postholder will work 30% on Jordan delivery and 70 % on Iraq programme development.

Main opportunities/challenges for this role:
- By providing academic management expertise, to contribute to the scoping and development of new, evidence based English programming in Iraq, in both the formal and non-formal education sectors, and where sector goals are clearly aligned to wider goals of Country Business Plan in this priority country.
- To lead on the academic design and delivery of existing and expanding programmes in Jordan; the Language for Resilience Community Language Support Programme (CLSP), and the English in Education TTPELT programme.
- To contribute to partnerships working with a range of key governmental and non-governmental stakeholders, e.g. UNICEF, QRTA, ministries of education
- To lead on the design and delivery of, and engagement with digital teacher development content as part of programming in the Language for Resilience, English Connects and English in Education impact areas
Main Accountabilities:
- Academic design for all projects in both countries
- Delivery of academic management plan for all projects in both countries
- Direct capacity building of Teachers and Teacher Educators and relevant MoE staff
- Development of and engagement with learning content for Teachers and Teacher Educators and associated collaborative learning networks across EES’ 3 impact areas
- Design and implementation of M&E frameworks
- Develop the relevant evidence base to support the research and TL agenda and the scoping of new programming
- Supporting country lead in the commissioning and quality assuring of consultancy input from external UK consultants
- Engage stakeholders with evidence base around what works in English language teaching and assessment
About You (essential requirements for the role):
• English teaching qualification
• University graduate
• Significant teacher training experience
• Significant understanding of education and its link to social development
Desirable requirements
• TEFL-Q – a diploma level qualification in teaching English as a foreign / second language which meets accreditation UK requirements
• Masters in ELT, education or digital education
• Understanding of ELT in education policy, current trends and research internationally
• Significant academic management experience
• Successful track record in selecting and developing learning content, including digital content, for teachers
• Successful track record in course design
• Successful track record in delivery professional development opportunities for teachers and teacher educators
• Project management experience, especially stakeholder management experience
• Working with refugees/vulnerable students
