The Archivist Assistant will be working closely with the Khayrallah Center Archivist to perform research, locate Arabic texts, and digitize materials for our developing Arabic OCR project. The Archivist Assistant will have to research, locate, and acquire Arabic texts such as books and newspapers from North and South America, acquire and digitize microfilm of Arabic newspapers, use BookEye scanner to digitize Arabic books and documents, post-process digital files using Adobe products such as Photoshop, Lightroom, and Acrobat, and write collection descriptions and metadata.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in History, Public History, or related field.
The position requires experience with archival processing, editing with Adobe products, and writing metadata. The candidate should have a very high attention to detail and be comfortable performing repetitive tasks.
