Overview
Un Ponte Per (UPP) is an NGO established in 1991. It has started its activities as “Un ponte per Baghdad”, right after the end of the war in Iraq, with the aim of organizing solidarity initiatives in favor of the Iraqi civil society. Later on, the intervention of Un Ponte Per started including Serbia and other Middle Eastern and Mediterranean countries. The NGO mission is to prevent new conflicts, protect human rights and support civil society, especially in the Middle East, through humanitarian and development programs, always supporting the local civil society. UPP is active in Iraq since 1991 and is regularly registered at National and Kurdistan Region levels.
The project focuses on strengthening the provision of MHPSS assistance to Refugees in the Erbil Governorate, seeking to improve the mental health conditions and the psychosocial vulnerability of refugees. In 2021, with the support of UNHCR, Un Ponte Per will develop its MHPSS services in Erbil urban areas. A second main component includes capacity building activities that would improve the knowledge and skills of persons identified through camp and urban community-based structures, and Erbil Directorate of Health (DOH) staff, and UPP staff, and UNHCR and other UNHCR partner staff on community based MHPSS topics.
The Case Worker (CW), under the supervision of the case manager (CM), will be in charge of following the case management of persons of concerns (POCs) in urban areas. S/he will cover urban areas, where s/he will mainly be responsible for assessing the needs of POCs, follow each POC through established case management procedures which includes managing the PoC’s progression across the different layers of the MHPSS Pyramid, referrals to relevant non-MHPSS services as per needs identified and follow-up to ensure needs are addressed. The CW will support the identification of local services and services provided by other humanitarian actors as well as the establishment of referral pathways to these services. The Case Worker will also participate to the coordination of case management meetings with the Technical Supervisor and the CM. S/he will work under the direct supervision of the Case Manager, supported by the Technical Supervisor (TS), Technical Advisor (TA) and the Project Manager (PM).
Responsibilities
Case Management:
- Provide comprehensive case management including screening, needs assessment, care planning, and follow up of cases and provision of psychosocial support in order to meet the needs of the POCs, under the supervision of the CM.
- Facilitate and document referrals to partner agencies and services providers according to the identified needs of individual POCs during the care planning. These service providers can include but are not limited to: MHPSS services, legal services, medical services, protection services, etc. in accordance with the inter-agency Standard of Care.
- Receive external referrals in line with set criteria; support the CM to ensure that referring agencies receive timely feedback on actions taken, when necessary and appropriate in light of confidentiality requirements;
- Participate in case management sessions with the Case Manager (CM) and Technical Supervisor (TS)
- Identify service providers and establish referral pathways
Basic Psychosocial Support:
- Provide awareness in the waiting areas of PARC about MHPSS services
- Provide basic emotional support and psychological first aid to the POCs approaching PARC office.
Coordination and Documentation:
- Participate in supervision sessions with the Technical Supervisor (TS).
- Regularly update the service mapping for out of camp settings in Erbil urban areas.
- Under the supervision of the CM, document all interactions and action taken with the POCs and ensure proper storage of sensitive data through a correct use of internal databases and case monitoring tools;
- Carry out all tasks respecting key protection principles including but not limited to: PSEA, do no harm, safeguarding, non-discrimination, confidentiality, accountability and data protection principles;

Qualifications & Preferred Skills
Education:
- University degree preferably in relevant subjects (Social work and Psychology ).
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in the social or humanitarian sector.
- At least 1 year of professional experience as case worker, or case manager within NGOs providing case management.
- Working experience with local/international NGOs.
- Previous experience working with IDPs or Refugee populations.
- Regional and cultural knowledge and sensitivity
- Computer literacy skills, including ability to operate Microsoft Word, Excel, Project & database Management software.
- KOBO ToolBox or other Mobile Data Collection Tools.
- Capacities to plan activities successfully targeting results and objectives
- Ability to work as part of a team and coordinate with other project personnel.
- Strong autonomy and coordination skills.
Knowledge:
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
- Self-reliant and able to work independently.
- Literacy in Microsoft Office Programs.
- Personal integrity and credibility
- Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills.
- Report writing

Languages:
- Excellent oral and written Kurdish and Arabic.
