Role and responsibilities

Generic responsibilities

  1. Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
  2. Implement delegated Cash and Livelihoods project portfolio according to plan of action
  3. Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
  4. Ensure proper filing of documents
  5. Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need, and explore and asses new and better ways to assist
  6. Promote and share ideas for technical improvement

Specific responsibilities

  1. Assist the Project Officer in registration of beneficiaries; verification of needs based on home visits, post distribution monitoring; and/or distribution of assistance in line with NRC policies and donor requirements.
  2. Ensure that the most vulnerable beneficiaries are selected in line with the approved beneficiary selection criteria
  3. Verify and update the beneficiary registers and report back to the project officer
  4. Facilitate the distribution of in-kind assistance/supplies/cash to selected beneficiaries and monitor utilisation of the items distributed
  5. Follow up on all beneficiaries regularly to ensure that they implement activities in line with schedules provided
  6. Participate in the preparation of weekly and monthly plan and schedules to be submitted to the immediate supervisor within given deadlines;
  7. Actively promote community participation in project activities with particular attention to gender representation in all activities;
  8. Facilitate the training of beneficiaries
  9. Prepare and submit reports and other updates as required
  10. Support with referrals to other NRC sectors or through external referral mechanism

Competencies

  • 2 years’ experience in Cash and livelihood projects in a humanitarian/recovery context
  • University degree or higher education relevant to the assignment (social services, agriculture, relevant engineering). Proven work experience will be considered as a substitute for formal education.
  • Previous experience working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Experience conducting beneficiary identification, verification and registration
  • Experience supporting referrals and/or identifying service providers
  • Experience conducting focus groups, questionnaires, and surveys
  •  
  • Competencies in all computer related tasks including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong communications skills, with good verbal and written English and fluent in local Arabic language is a requirement
  • Ability to work under pressure and with limited supervision in a challenging environment.
  • Good understanding of community participation, and very good ability to communicate with beneficiaries.
  • Overall good knowledge of geography, local population and local language in the areas of operational interests

 

Other Information:

  • Contract Duration: 12 months ( with the possibility of extension)
  • Duty Station: Nineveh- Iraq
  • Health Insurance is provided
  • Salary: G4/S1, According to NRC’s Iraq salary scale and terms and conditions.
