Community Resource Navigator

Plans and implements community resource navigation and support within the Health and Wellness efforts at University Neighborhood Partners, specifically focused on connecting community to emergency housing resources. Also focuses on increasing west side resident’s connections to culturally responsive resources regarding social connection, mental health referrals, and health access support. Works in collaboration with overall UNP efforts in creating pathways for west side residents to achieve individual, family, and community goals regarding health and wellness.

This is a temporary, non-benefited 8-month position.

This position is Category IIA: Not required on campus and able to telework

Responsibilities

1. Support community resource navigation and connection, specifically emergency housing resources.

2. Attend required training upon hire and weekly group collaborative meeting (date/time TBD)

3. Track and submit required information for outcome reporting purposes, meeting all deadlines

4. Advises UNP staff, social work students and related partners regarding community identified goals related to existing resources and existing barriers

5. Writes and edits program related publications and promotional or educational materials

Problem Solving

Incumbents in this position are expected to be familiar with the department’s policies and procedures and have working knowledge of University and department organizations and procedures in order to answer and assist staff and visitors. Incumbents are also expected to demonstrate sensitivity to others’ needs while being understanding and helpful on the job.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate’s degree in a related field or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education) required. Two years of related experience, ability to use logic and reasoning to prioritize tasks, expertise using MS Office software, and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills also required. Database experience preferred. Bachelor’s degree in a related field may be preferred.

Preferences

Experience directly related to health and wellness issues within historically marginalized communities.

Fluency in Spanish, Somali, Swahili, and/or Arabic are highly desired. Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet software, and/or database software preferred.

The candidates must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide culturally responsive care appropriate to west side community residents.
