The main objective of the GIZ project “Employment Promotion for IDPs, refugees, returnees and socially deprived households in host communities” (P4E – Prospects for Employment) is to improve the access to employment opportunities, particularly in the private sector, for internally displaced persons, refugees, returnees, and socially deprived households in host communities within Iraq and KRI.
To achieve this goal, the project is working in three fields of action: (1) increasing job seeker’s employability for the job market and employers in the private sector; (2) creating new employment opportunities through supporting the growths of existing entrepreneurs and new start-ups in the region; (3) enhancing the job-matching system through close cooperation between labour market stakeholders.
Responsibilities
The junior PR professional provides support in all PR and communication related matters of P4E by:
▪ further developing instruments and assisting in introducing innovation and change in the area of communication and PR
▪ managing knowledge by disseminating and documenting know-how, experience and information
▪ assuring the quality of articles and similar PR texts from the project
▪ cooperating with GIZ Iraq Communication Units, managing the exchange of information on communication (among other things by contributing information from the project, sharing presented trends and information, e.g. from planned events or local media inquiries).
▪ supporting the project with strategic orientation on communication, in presenting a consistent image of the project’s activities and results
Therefore he/she works under the guidance of the PR and communication manager
The junior PR professional performs the following tasks:
Tasks
1. Program-based media work
The junior PR professional
▪ assists with coordinating the communication of media activities of the project (including, but not limited to, social media, internal communication channels)
▪ assists the professional with all media activities (maintaining contacts with the GIZ Iraq Communication Units, coordinating the creation of media contributions, drafting of social media contributions)
▪ documentation and analysis of media contributions by the project
2. Program-based PR work
The junior PR professional
▪ helps further develop suitable communication tools for PR work
▪ assists with the necessary coordination processes to produce publications and materials in accordance with GIZ standards (corporate design, standards for content)
▪ assists the creation of experience reports and activity summaries)
▪ helps in organising project events (e.g. workshops, trainings)
▪ helps update the program’s social media presence and program’s PR materials (e.g. flyers, banners)
▪ assists in beneficiary interviews and activity documentations
3. Internal communications in the program
The junior PR professional
▪ passes on information and supports dialogue between the various groups of employees, national and international staff
▪ helps further develop appropriate internal information instruments
4. Other duties/additional tasks

▪ performs other duties and tasks at the request of management
Required qualifications, competences and experience
Qualifications
▪ BA/MA or comparable qualification
Professional experience
▪ initial experience in the field of communication (media and PR work, journalism, internal communication or similar)
Other knowledge, additional competences
▪ ability to express oneself well both verbally and in writing; polished, target-group oriented style
▪ ideally, basic knowledge of DTP or graphics applications
▪ experience in writing articles and/or press releases (evidenced e.g. by work samples) are of advantage
▪ very good working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone, email, the internet) and computer applications (especially MS Office)
▪ fluency in English and Sorani Kurdish is essential, knowledge of Badini Kurdish, Arabic, German are an advantage
▪ willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management
