Under the overall guidance of the Project Manager at Mercy Hands for Humanitarian Aid (MH), and direct supervision of the Project Manager Assistant the Electrical Engineer will conduct his/her work according to the framework of the program and project implementation requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Generally responsible for implementations and monitoring of all electrical related works at site.
  • The Electrical Engineer will be based in the field to follow up with BNFs to create and develop their BoQs and lead the toolkits distribution and follow up process.
  • Work closely with the procurement department to secures all required transport, equipment, prepare tender documents, secures all the needs of the staff.
  • Follow up with suppliers to procure toolkits and ensure they are delivered to BNFs.
  • Estimates, prepares and assigns the resources such as manpower, materials, consumables, equipment, tools, etc., required for all electrical and related works prior to execution.
  • Preparing specifications for purchases of electrical equipment and materials.
  • Submits site daily reports, inspection requests, estimates and all applicable monitoring reports on regular basis or as required.
  • Refer to the PMA in all administrative related issues including but not limited to leave request (after the initial approval of the direct supervisor and the Project Manager), working hours, movement, and conflict between staff with deferent reporting line.
  • Get back to the PMA and have her/his approval before interacts with local authorities.
  • Any other related duties assigned by the supervisor to ensure program success.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering or any academic certificate related to electronics and precision machines (please explain in the application letter why you think your education and/or professional background is appropriate).
  • Team management and leadership skills.
  • Proficient in design and calculation software.
  • Capability to establish good and respectful relationship with other actors’ stakeholders
  • Able to train and manage a team (to listen, advise, support, solve conflicts, motivate, etc.);
  • Experience with participatory fieldwork, methodologies, monitoring and reporting;
  • Knowledge of humanitarian principles and code of conduct;
  • Patience, good personal organization, good communication and ability to work in teams, seriously, rigorously and personal accountability;
  • Initiative, flexibility and willing to learn;
  • Ability to work under time pressure, independently and with limited supervision;
  • Computer literate (IT) and good level of numeracy.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the field and in a related position. Preferably more, organizing the job of subordinates and mentoring them.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and local language is a must Arabic.
