Position Overview:
The SHO Liaison Officer acts as the focal point to coordinate, facilitate and improve administrative and access-related processes with local authorities in the AO on behalf of SHO, and other Mine Action-related coordination as directed by the SHO Implementation Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Submitting, following and obtaining legal administrative documents (access letters, importation authorizations, Task orders, Visa for international staff).
- Maintain up to date information on administrative and access related processes and share information with relevant management staff.
- Submitting requests, following up any Task orders/reports with the Directorate of Mine Action (DMA).
- Submitting requests, following up, and reports with the NGO Directorate (DNGO).
- Compile requests for access for staff, driver, cargo and vehicles; ensuring that all relevant access letters are kept up to date.
- Under the close supervision of the Implementation Manager and Operations Manager, identify and maintain key contacts with various authorities to ease access and other administrative requests, and direct questions for clarification on processes.
- Prepare and submit all requested access letters to be submitted to relevant authorities (JCC, Peshmerga, JCMA/NOC ISF) to secure access for SHO teams in Nineveh and surrounding areas as required.
- File all obtained access letters, and provide copies to all relevant departments.
- Follow up and alert when access letters are expiring.
- As requested, translate all official and administrative documents from Arabic to English or from English to Arabic (written).
- Ensure that the all-Project Managers is kept up to date with any changes in access procedures, and any relevant safety information is shared.
- Any other duties required by the line manager.
Reporting:
- Daily and weekly formal reporting to the SHO Implementation Manager on workflow and other finished/pending assigned tasks.

Location and Travel:
The role is located in Baghdad. On occasion, by mutual agreement, the Liaison Officer may also travel to other SHO locations due to work or to attend conferences/training when required.
Qualifications and Expertise:
- Degree in a related field.
- Minimum 3 (three) years of relevant work experience.
- An understanding and commitment to SHO’s aims and values.
- Excellent command of Arabic and English written and spoken is essential.
- Excellent computer skills, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), Microsoft Teams, and OneDrive.
- Excellent communication skills.
