Starting Salary: Starting at $44,000

Located: Washington DC. Temporarily Remote Due to COVID-19 until the end of the year. A hybrid model, a mix of remote and in-person, in early 2022.

Position Type: Full time

ICFJ is looking to add to its global staff by hiring an IJNet Associate Editor to work for the International Journalists’ Network. IJNet delivers the latest on global media innovation, news apps and tools, training opportunities and expert advice for professional and emerging journalists worldwide. Produced by ICFJ, IJNet follows the shifting journalism scene from a global perspective in eight languages – Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Persian, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish. The associate editor is a critical position within ICFJ and will be responsible for editing, writing, and creating social content. The position requires someone with strong editing and writing skills and a global outlook to assign and edit innovative stories and multimedia content for the English language site. The position will also engage IJNet followers across social media platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram.

Responsibilities:
Assign and edit articles from IJNet freelance contributors, ensuring fresh content is featured daily

Research, report and write content for IJNet

Produce content for IJNet’s social media accounts on a daily basis

Contribute to editorial and social media strategy guidance for IJNet’s seven other language editors

Assist with IJNet surveys, e-newsletters, social media and other outreach

Produce multimedia content, including podcast episodes and social media videos

Help shape IJNet’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion practices

Generate fresh content and social media ideas that are engage with the most pressing conversations and trends in the industry

Make sure all training opportunities meet IJNet quality standards

Collaborate with ICFJ research, communications and programs departments on content and promotional campaigns

Moderate webinars and represent IJNet at conferences as needed

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Associate’s or bachelor’s degree from an accredited academic institution

1-2 years online journalism experience (preferred)

Writing and editing experience, including assigning stories and working on story ideas with writers

Experience with social media strategies

Experience with multimedia reporting

Proficiency in multitasking in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating priorities and deadlines

Strong organizational skills, effective attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines

Familiarity with media and tech industry

Mastery of AP style

Design experience with tools such as Canva

Fluent in English (required); fluency in other IJNet languages is a plus

Preferred candidates will have working knowledge of Drupal’s CMS, a basic knowledge of HTML
