General responsibilities
As the IM Officer for NPA South Iraq, the employee must have thorough knowledge of IM work, and strictly adhere to, the guidelines, procedures and routines of NPA.
The IM Officer will represent NPA South Iraq and is consequently required to conduct himself/herself respectful and in a professional manner in accordance to the NPA Code of Conduct.
The IM Officer responsibilities as outlined below:
Specific duties
- The employee must have thorough knowledge of IM work, and strictly adhere to, the guidelines, procedures and routines of NPA.
- The IM Officer will represent NPA South Iraq and is consequently required to conduct himself/herself respectful and in a professional manner in accordance to the NPA Code of Conduct.
- The IM Officer responsibilities as outlined below:
- Have the day-to-day responsibility of information management related tasks in all the location of operation.
- Support with the development of digital field surveys in both Arabic and English language.
- Create geographical maps to analyse and visualize NPA project implementation across areas and sites.
- Data cleaning and data validation following field surveys.
- Ensure all reports on SharePoint, Survey 123 are complete, consistent with standards and are of acceptable quality.
- Ensure all key GIS data is uploaded to NPA ArcGIS online services.
- Ensure all reports generated by NPA Southern Iraq are processed into IMSMA reports on monthly basis.
- Support mobile data collection designs, and utilization for NPA project.
- Provide support and guidance on usage of the data and updated data-set to the external stakeholders, after it has been approved.
- Assist in the production or updating of information products, such as dashboards, charts, maps, infographics and other graphic products.
- Assist in performing desk-based data capturing applying digitizing and georeferencing techniques.
- Assist with NPA project monthly, quarterly and annual reports
- Assist in the design and development of training modules and participate in the implementation of training activities.
- Assist in the training of operational Field staff on survey123 forms and operational dashboards
- Train and assist NPA staff in correct usage of SP as document management system.
- Assist in the preparation of IM Reports and presentations.
- Assist in recruitment of new IM staff when required.
- Install Software packages on tablets and computers.
- Undertake any other relevant IM tasks, contributing to the successful implementation of the NPA programme in consultation with the Senior IM Officer and agreement of the IM Officer.
Required qualifications:
Education:
Must have:
- Bachelor degree, studies on computer science or studies in information management.
- Detailed knowledge in computer handling and data acquisition.
- A realistic and objective approach to new technologies and methodologies.
- Cooperating ability with all colleagues.
- Communication skills in written and spoken in English and Arabic
Desirable:
- Understanding of Relational Database Management System (RDBMS).
- Understanding and knowledge of GIS (Geographical Information Systems).
- Good working knowledge in technical IT would be an asset.
- Ability to work and act under pressure with discretion in politically sensitive environment with a minimum of comfort.
- Responds positively to critical feedback and differing points of view.
- Ready to work independently, under tight deadlines.
- Willing to undertake domestic and international travels when required.
Experience:
Must have:
- At least 3 years of progressive working experience in any reputable organization or enterprise in the field of Information management.
- At least one year experience in GIS
- Experience in using MS Office applications.
Desirable:
Previous working experience in mine action would be an asset.
