Brief description of the organization
Al Mesalla for Human Resources Development is a non-governmental organization established in 2004 registered in Baghdad and Erbil with headquarters located in Erbil. The organization is working at disseminating a culture of human rights and peace building in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. The organization is currently working along 3 programs: A non-violence and peace building program developing peace capacities within the community; a women and Gender program empowering women to take an active role in the community and a Human Rights Program which focuses especially on enhancing freedom of expression. Since June 2014, Al Mesalla developed services to the growing refugee and displaced community settling in the Kurdish Region of Iraq by participating to distributing emergency support and establishing empowerment and livelihoods programs for displaced women in particular.

World Vision International is a Christian relief, development and advocacy organization dedicated to working with children, families and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice. World Vision Iraq is committed to bring hope and support to children and communities in the country through implementing a range of holistic, integrated projects that promote change and improved well-being of the most vulnerable; the internally displaced, returnee, host communities and refugees. Al-Mesalla in partnership with World Vision Iraq implements the Safe Returns TAMASOK (cohesion) Project to build upon and scale up the potential of community actors (Clergy, community leaders, teachers, and activists) to be more active in conflict prevention in the west and east Mosul city, and Al Hamdaniyah district.
OBJECTIVE OF ASSIGNMENT
The objectives of this assignment are:
- Training and developing the skills of 50 teachers on the mechanisms of creating spaces for effective discussion with students within schools to be peace builders.
- To conduct Training for teachers who participate the training on following topics to enable them to provide specific knowledge and skills required for successful implementation of project:
1, life skills ( developing the quality of education) for the teachers who will be selected by Al Mesalla organization to participate in this training.
2, Peace building mechanisms proved to the teachers.
- Develop resource materials for training module, guidelines, life skills curriculum manual and training presentation on relevant topics.
Key Responsibilities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the supervision of the Project manager, the Consultant will:
- Design, develop and submit training material (guidelines, training presentations) and training module(s) on peace building and support, life-skills, in English and Arabic Language
- Develop technical and methodological tools related to life skills for capacity-building to teachers.
Conduct an interactive Training for teachers on life-skills and peacebuilding .
- Develop technical and methodological tools related to life skills for capacity-building to the teachers.
- Provide 10 days of training to teachers from xx to xx;
- Submit a final report of training (which should include the details of training contents, modules developed, participants, methodology, Learning and recommendations) in English Language.
COMPETENCIES
- Ability to observe agreed timelines
- At least 5 Year Experience as trainer with NGOs.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills
- Previous experience of developing modules and conducting trainings
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Commitment to Al-Mesalla’s values and Code of Ethics.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills
- Previous experience of conducting capacity building activities/ToT and development of training modules
- Good technical knowledge on Child Protection and child rights issues, human right in line with Al-Mesalla’s standards;
- Experience in providing services to displaced populations, migrants, teaches and religious minorities or conflict affected populations;
- Good technical knowledge on life skills and peace building and Mosul society
- Experience of working with Government and/or international organizations.
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in social sciences, political sciences, conflict prevention or relevant field
- Fluency in English and Arabic languages
- Strong communication skills and proven ability to collaborate with different civic actors
- Experience in managing trainings in multi-cultural/ethic audience
- Strong ability in managing politically sensitive issues, in a responsible way
- Strong oral presentation skills to stimulate lively discussion and facilitation of training on conflict prevention, peace building, including confidence building issues with tangible results taking into account the local context
