General context about this project:
Yazda operates a Mobile Medical Unit servicing 14 villages on the north side of Sinjar Mountain. Work planned under this project will include general provision of primary health care with specific attention to the implementation of integrated non communicable disease (NCD) and mental health (MH) care.

About the role:

The Medical Project Manager will participate in defining, planning and monitoring medical activities, as well as coordinate human and material related resources to ensure Yazda provides high standards of care. In particular, he/she will coordinate the Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) team ensuring quality primary health care services are provided with specific attention to NCD-MH integration.

Reports to:

–        hierarchically to the Program Coordinator and Country Director

–        functionally to the Stichting Vluchteling (SV) advisors

Supervision of:
Health project staff (Doctor, Nurse, Community Health Officer, Mental Health/Psychologist and Pharmacist)

Main responsibilities and tasks:

– Participates in defining medical operational priorities when needed and the development of the project strategy, annual plan, budget review and reports to donors.

– Oversee the activities of the MMU team, including:

– community awareness activities and patient education (health promotion sessions on general hygiene, sexual reproductive health topics, COVID-19 prevention, NCD and MH awareness and education activities, etc)

– screening of patients for NCD and MH conditions

– medical care provided to patients (according to WHO standards)

– setup and update of appropriate patient documentation (cards, files etc) as per standard templates and ensures medical confidentiality and ethics are respected at all times

– referral of patients in need of higher care to the appropriate facilities

– follow up of chronic patients

– setting up of the standard data collection and reporting tools, performance monitoring, reporting (monthly and quarterly)

– Coordinates, supervises, coaches, supports and evaluates the medical team members’ performance to improve the medical components of the project and ensure compliance with standard protocols and standards as well as MoH protocols, in collaboration with the SV advisors.

– Plans and supervises, in close coordination with the Program Coordinator, the associated processes (recruitment, training, induction, performance evaluation, development and internal / external communication) of the medical staff of the project in order to ensure both the sizing and the amount of knowledge required and improve staff capabilities

– Supervises the pharmacist to achieve an efficient management of the pharmacy and medical equipment, in collaboration with the logistics department in consideration of program directions and protocol changes. Monitors consumption and preparation of medical orders to provide drugs, medical materials, medical devices and consumables at all circumstances and avoid stock shortage. Ensures appropriate drug dispensation and patient education

– Ensures regular contact with MoH and other local medical actors

– identifying potential challenges in the implementation of the program and reorganizing medical activities in collaboration with the SV advisors

– may undertake further tasks, according to organizational needs and context evolution

 

Required skills and knowledge:

•        University degree in medicine, healthcare management, nursing, or other paramedical studies.

•        Minimum 2 years of experience in primary health care

•        Fluency in Kurmanji, English and Arabic

•        Computer literacy in Excel/Word/skype

 

Desirable skills and knowledge:

•        Specialization degree in Public Health

•        Management experience

•        Previous NGO experience
