Context:

 

Under the general guidance of the Chief of Mission (CoM), and the direct supervision of the Head of Migration Health Unit, the incumbent will be responsible for implementation and coordination of MER project activities in Erbil and governorates, as part of the agreed MER activities for Iraq. The incumbent is expected to carry out his/her duties in accordance with highest ethical standards and with due respect for gender and socio-cultural sensitivity

 

 

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

 

  1. Coordinate implementation and monitoring of planned MER activities in his/her area of responsibility.  
  2. Coordinate with the officials of ministry of health including the National Tuberculosis Program (NTP) and related other ministries for the smooth implementation of project activities.
  3. Provide technical guidance to the implementation of the MER activities according to the operational plan / work plan and activities timeline and in alignment with national program guidelines.
  4. Monitor project implementation in conjunction with NTP focal persons; personally, visit intervention sites and provide supportive supervision of project activities to ensure delivery of project outcomes defined in the performance framework and at a community level.
  5. Identify problems/challenges in project implementation that hindered activity implementation and identify possible solutions to fast-track delayed activities.
  6. Coordinate the creation, collection and sharing of information related to GF MER in appropriate format requested by GF MER project.
  7. Prepare and submit a weekly situation report to the Head of Unit and the Head of Sub-Office, on the status of project implementation and on any important developments to support the decision-making process on future activities.
  8. Contribute to the development of new projects in consultation with the officials of ministry of health.
  9. Prepare quarterly reports in the prescribed format as per the need of MER project.
  10. Participate in the preparation of annual and quarterly work plans, including budgets
  11. Coordinate the creation, collection and sharing of information related to GF MER in appropriate forums
  1. Share information on incoming shipments through with the respective national programmes focal points and ensure the timely approval of any required supporting documents to smoothen the customs clearance formalities.
  1. Coordinate with the warehouse focal person at the NTP, ensure availability of adequate space for incoming cargo and monitor the timely distribution of the products to identified distribution centres following an approved distribution plan.
  2. Undertake other duties that may be assigned from time to time which are relevant to the position

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Education

 

 

  • Master’s degree in in Medicine, Public Health, Nursing or a related field from an accredited academic institution
  • University degree in in Medicine, Public Health, Nursing, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with 2 years of relevant professional experience

 

Experience

 

  • professional working experience in related field, preferably within migration health, immigration medical assessments, epidemiology and/or international public health;
  • Hands-on technical experience working in disease control programs in the governmental or nongovernmental sector; understanding of the elements of WHO / UNAIDS global strategies for HIV/AIDS, TB and malaria and challenges to their implementation; experience in capacity building /mentoring
  • Health Sector experience in difficult areas/situations in Iraq
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, integrity and commitment in carrying out responsibilities; Independent Worker;Personal commitment, efficiency, flexibility, drive for results;
  • Previous work in UN or International Organization an advantage 
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Good level of computer literacy.

Skills

  • At least one year of experience using the following tools: Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Visual Studio (ASP .NET C#), SQL Server. Experience in the development and implementation of population database systems (such as registrations, census or surveys).
  • Minimum one year of experience in systems analysis and development, data modelling and SQL programming
  • Minimum one year of experience in develop and maintaining data system with ODK.

 

Languages

 

  • English, Kurdish and Arabic are required.
  • Any other language is an advantage.
