Our Team

Oxfam in Iraq is working with more than 20 local/national NGOs across the country that had allowed expansion of our geographic and thematic scope and enriched our knowledge of context and dynamics, as well as building and strengthening capacity in local humanitarian leadership (LHL) and working with other local and international actors to transform humanitarian system to be more flexible and agile and be locally led.

Oxfam in Iraq supported 15 local and national partner organizations across five governates (Salahelddin, Anbar, Kirkuk, Ninewa, and Diyala) to build their institutional and thematic capacities through the SIDA funded project “Building local humanitarian leadership (LHL) for effective and efficient humanitarian response” 2018-2021. Oxfam is investing in LHL campaign and network strengthening through projects supported by Oxfam America (project “Aid Hero Campaign) and Wellspring (project “Strengthening LHL network in Iraq). In addition, Oxfam in Iraq is working with number of local and national actors including NGOs, government authorities, women rights organizations, youth and volunteers organizations, and networks etc.

The partnership team leads and facilitates the LHL and transformative partnerships work across different projects and programs in the country and provides support to the Oxfam field offices as well as the partners we work with. The team focuses on the following key objectives:

  • To facilitate strengthening of transformative partnerships in Oxfam in Iraq with a focus on equality and diversity
  • To uphold the principles of partnerships and commitments in Charter for Change
  • To strengthen the local humanitarian leadership among local and national humanitarian actors in Iraq.

Job Purpose

The Partnership intern will lead on liaison and coordination with the different organizations we work with, and actively support transformative partnerships and local humanitarian leadership agenda to be stronger and visible in Iraq. The person will be responsible for effective communications, coordination with partners, coordination with field offices and different departments of Oxfam (e.g. MEAL, Finance, HR etc.), and coordination of capacity strengthening and exchange processes in different projects.

DBS checks (for roles based in the UK):

It is a requirement in the UK for a new DBS check at enhanced level for every new member of staff who works directly with, or has regular contact with, children or vulnerable adults in the UK (consistent with DBS guidance and relevant law).

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in conducting partner’s assessment and partners mapping.
  • Responsible for the management of documentation for partners related activities as per Oxfam standards to make sure is clean, tidy and well organized at all times.
  • Assist on mapping for partners in all governorates Oxfam activities cover
  • Assist the partnership team in partner assessment visits
  • Organize monitoring trips to partners, liaising between technical coordinators, Partnerships team, Programme Management in field offices and partners’ management
  • Record and archive minutes of meeting and visit reports to partners and relevant stakeholders
  • Collaborate, and follow-up with Oxfam field Programme Managers on recommendations and action points
  • Responsible for archiving and documentation of project data. Including creation of adequate tools and uploading it on Box for Management information and review.
  • Prepare, keep and update hard copies of partners’ and projects’ files
  • Prepare per diem and Transportation Payment sheet for Oxfam trainees.
  • Provides general administrative and clerical support including mailing, scanning and photocopying for partnerships team.
  • Maintain electronic and hard copy filling system of partnership program Admin related files.
  • Assist in resolving any administrative problems and inquiries.
  • Assist in preparation of regularly scheduled reports.
  • Maintain and update contact lists for partners and trainees.
  • Prepare and modify documents including correspondence, reports, drafts memos and emails
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings and appointments for partnerships team.
  • Make travel and accommodation arrangement for partnerships team in close relation with the Admin Officer and Logistics team in different Oxfam offices in Iraq as necessary.
  • Provide general support to visitors and clients.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Skills & Experiences

  • Ability to work effectively with others, adaptable and flexible.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work sensitively with people from various cultural and social backgrounds.  
  • Maximum One year or less of Experience  
  • Computer literacy, particularly in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to improve planning, coordination, and reporting skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Fluency in English, and Arabic/Kurdish, both written and spoken
