The Protection Monitors  coordinates with LCN’s protection Team Leader to monitor protection status across the country collecting, verifying, and analyzing information in order to identify human rights violations and protection risks encountered by refugees and other affected populations

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Collect and document testimonies and complaints
    • Assess changes in the overall protection situation in community, village or region
    • gather information about specific incidents and affected individuals
    • make a better understanding in trends and patterns within a community
    • Direct contact by victims or witnesses to document human rights violations suffered by victims and survivors keeping their sensitive information’s confidentiality
    • Collect background information about specific incidents to get a better assessment such as finding the root cause of the incident
  • Verify information concerning an alleged violation
  • Spot checks and/or compounds walkabouts, home and community leaders visits
  • collect Information directly from protection interventions, such as Legal Clinic’s cases
  • Monitoring officer must establish a network of contacts and sources of information at multiple levels of community
  • Submitting monthly and Emergency protection report to Protection Team Leader.
  • Record, photograph and take on-site notes during protection site visits.
  • Attending Trainings related to Protection and mentioned above responsibilities.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

  • Previous experience of UNHCR Protection Cluster.
  • Experience in excel and online management systems.
  • Proven ability to operate in a team environment liaising with a diverse teams.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage a varied workload and prioritize tasks, work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Experience of using own initiative and problem-solving attitude.
  • Acceptable English language (Speaking, reading and writing).
