Project Title: REBUILD: Rebuilding Livelihoods for the Most Vulnerable Returnees and IDPs Living in Informal and Urban Settlements in Ninewa, Salah al-Din, Diyala and Sulaymaniyah through Short-term Employment and Business Restoration.
Training Location: TBC if will be online or in-person
Expected Date(s) of Work: December
Brief Introduction:
With an intervention targeting IDPs, returnees in critical shelter and recent returnees living in urban and peri-urban informal settlements of Ba’aj, Tooz Khurmato, Sulaymaniyah Markez and Khanaqin the consortium (ACF, COOPI, HIO and YAO) will respond to the immediate livelihoods needs of the most vulnerable by providing temporary employment to 572 people, while also contributing to restoring the economic environment through the provision of small grants for enterprises for 82 women and youth-led businesses. Based on lessons learned from previous programming, the consortium’s approach relies on the extensive involvement of affected communities and local authorities over the design, implementation and monitoring of the project, which proved an effective means to mitigate risks of raising tensions in the community and to enhance the sustainability of the interventions. All throughout the intervention, the consortium will apply a strong gender, disability and protection mainstreaming approach. Based on risks identified during the assessment stage, the consortium has elaborated initial accountability to affected populations (AAP) and protection mainstreaming plans which will be monitored and updated during the implementation. Conflict-sensitivity and protection mainstreaming indicators will be monitored throughout the implementation to allow for the timely identification and mitigation of any potential negative effects arising from the intervention.
