PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide research, programmatic, and administrative support for projects to identify, assess, and support coordinated, multi-sectoral strategies to strengthen health security in the African region
Conduct systematic reviews and gap analyses by synthesizing the published literature and unpublished reports to assess disease preparedness and current levels of multi-sectoral engagement in various countries
Review and synthesize country assessment, planning, and policy documents
Help collect, clean, and conduct analyses using heterogeneous datasets including ecological, geographic, socio economic, and demographic data
Assist with drafting scientific manuscripts for publication, presentations, and public reports as well as with annual project reporting and quarterly updates
Help build a network of and regularly communicate with diverse international collaborators, including scientists, government officials, and other stakeholders
Coordinate project conference calls and meetings and take detailed minutes
Help design and organize multi-day national and regional workshops, including preparatory materials, virtual/hybrid format, note taking, and synthesis
Assist with the coordination and management of travel, finance/budgets, contracts, meetings, programs, reporting, and all other administrative responsibilities as required.
Assist in project management and provide administrative support, especially in the set- up of meetings, booking of travel, organizing of paperwork and filing, meeting agendas and minutes, monitoring of communications, and other project-related details.
Participate in other projects and tasks as required or assigned by supervisors
Directly support the Senior Policy Advisor and Executive Vice President at EcoHealth Alliance, and other senior scientists and staff working on the projects
Otherwise assist with the smooth execution of the project, and development of other EcoHealth Alliance programs
QUALIFICATIONS:
BS or BA and 2 years of similar work experience, or a Masters’ degree in Biology, Economics, Epidemiology, Animal health, Public Health, or related field
Previous experience in public health, animal health, or infectious diseases, or 4 years relevant experience
Ability to conduct systematic literature reviews, policy analysis, data collation and cleaning, and exploratory data analyses and visualizations
Ability to synthesize information and draft high-quality technical reports and other project outputs
Experience with collaborative, international research projects
Must be self-driven and highly motivated, organized, and willing to perform both research and administrative duties
Willingness to adjust working schedule according to international time zones
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong sense of organization and attention to detail
MS Office intermediate level skills
Able to multitask and triage competing priorities
Experience with statistical and/or economic analysis (skills in Excel, STATA, or R)
Experience with or interest in learning EndNote reference management software
Fluency in English; working knowledge of French and/or Arabic a plus
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong interest in One Health
A strong sense of team spirit and diplomacy
A friendly and professional demeanor and high level of cultural sensitivity
Salary range: $52,000 – $56,000, depending on qualifications
