Duties

Basic Function of Position:

 

Incumbent serves as assistant to Commercial Officers and Commercial Specialists in planning, organizing, and administering programs to facilitate the marketing of US goods and services. Provides commercial and administrative support to Foreign Commercial Service (CS) staff for trade programs, buyer delegations, individual company visits under the CS matchmaking service and contributes to the execution of other core CS services. Supports official visits, especially of senior USG officials and partner agencies, and coordinates related logistics. Incumbent posts content on social media regarding CS Ankara events and programs and to increase number of subscribers. Regularly scans media for economic and sector-related news of interest to relevant sector specialists and Commercial Officers. Overseas official databases for client contacts, services, and activities as well as the Embassy’s contact database (for creating/maintaining guest lists for official functions). Fulfills certain administrative functions in support of office and staff, as needed.

 

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: Minimum 1 year of responsible experience in business, government, or NGOs in the fields of marketing, trade promotion, economics, international trade, business development is required.

 

JOB KNOWLEDGE: Good knowledge of the Turkish domestic economy, business customs, practices, marketing channels, laws, regulations, and policies. Basic understanding of the U.S. government, the U.S. business environment, and the U.S. – Turkey trade and investment relationship.

Education Requirements:

    • Two years university/college studies is required.

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE: Level IV (fluent) reading/writing/speaking English and Level IV (fluent) reading/writing/speaking Turkish required. This may be tested.

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Trainee level sales, marketing and/or business development skills with an ability to work in different sectors. Trainee level market research and analytical skills. Sound computer and program planning skills and an ability to multitask. High level of flexibility in adapting to different tasks and an ability to effectively work as part of a team. Must be available to work on evenings, weekends, early mornings, U.S. and Turkish holidays, as needed.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
