Project Manager “Promoting Social Cohesion, Peace, and Community Resilience in West and Southwest of Ninewa”

Al-Tahreer Association for Development (TAD) is a non –governmental organization that aims at spreading the tenets of democracy, peace, and human rights with a focus on Preventing Violent Extremism (PVE). TAD has been working in Iraq ever since 2003, starting its efforts in Nineveh and expanding to the remaining Iraqi governorates. The association has conducted many training programs, provided counselling and implemented projects that support the building of democracy and civil society and promoting a culture of peace, and maintaining the relationship between individuals and diverse communities of Iraq.

 

PROJECT SUMMARY Enhancing the positive role of community leaders to contribute to building sustainable peace, and community and youth leaders’ participation strengthened in the area of prevention of violent extremism through enhancing resilience and advocating for community needs and challenges.

 

MAIN OBJECTIVES:

To coordinate with the Project Manager in Erbil and project stakeholders and beneficiaries to ensure an effective implementation of the project in Kirkuk. 

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Project Coordinator’s main responsibilities are, although not solely restricted to:

  

  • Prepare and realise, together with the Project Manager, the presentation of the project to the community, beneficiaries and project team;
  • Ensure organisation and coordination of the project team during the preparation, execution and evaluation of the planned activities according to the time-frame and their coherence with the general project time-frame;
  • Organise weekly meeting with the project team working in the project and ensure the reports and communication, reporting to the Project Manager. The Project Coordinator is responsible for the project team;
  • Ensure regular monitoring of project implementation and supervision of progress as well as the weekly running of the field activities (assisted by the Project Manager);
  • Support the project team in organising regular meetings with the stakeholders and local government officials;
  • Support the Project Manager and in liaison with the project enumerators in conducting actor mapping, needs assessments and context analyses;
  • Supporting the project team in organising Focus Groups Discussions, ad hoc meetings and conferences, if and when needed;
  • Liaising and communicating with the stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of the project;
  • Report weekly, monthly and weekly to the Project Manager the planning, implementation and progress of the project’s activities;
  • Elaborate with the Project Manager weekly and monthly and implement weekly activity plans;
  • Ensure proper financial and administrative report according to the costs of the developed activities to the Project Manager and the Administrative and Financial Assistant on a monthly basis;
  • Identify shortfalls and bottlenecks in the implementation of planned activities that would require immediate action and accordingly propose relevant recommendations and corrective measures;
  • Suggest contacts, partnerships and networking leading to the success of the project;
  • Provide to the Project Manager the field reports according to all the activities implemented and support the Project Manager in the technical report requested by the Donor;
  • Ensure meetings and relations with all the stakeholders involved in the project (Governorate’s Office and representatives, Community and Religious leaders, institutional representatives, NGO’s, partners, youth, women and other marginalised groups etc.)

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

  • University or college qualification in a relevant area or equivalent work experience.
  • At least three (3) years of experience working with NNGOs/INGOs.
  • Experience in capacity building, project planning, implementation, and monitoring.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic is a prerequisite. 
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the local contexts and sensitivities
  • Peacebuilding programming and management
  • Finance and strategic planning 
  • Emergency start-up.
