The job description and volunteer contract are mandatory for all positions within INTERSOS and shall be signed by the employee within the first week of employment.
Purpose/objective of the position:
The Community Outreach Volunteer is responsible for establishing relationships with communities in the areas of intervention based on trust and cooperation. S/he will be responsible for the monitoring of the protection context in the area, including the safety and dignity of individuals and respect of their basic rights through observing and reporting of protection incidents, concerns and trends in the assigned area of operation.
Generic Duties:
- Support Protection Monitors in facilitating, collecting and reporting information regarding the overall protection situation and critical individual cases through observation and communication with communities;
- Support the Team Leader in the reporting of qualitative and quantitative data and information;
- Support the protection team in understanding the needs of different community groups and ensuring equal and meaningful access to services and activities;
- Conduct regular focus group discussions (FGDs) to better understand community perspectives;
- Conduct community-based awareness sessions and campaigns to inform community members on various topics related to identified knowledge gaps and concerns;
- Actively identify, document and refer individuals with specific needs and/or protection concerns;
- Provide orientation on available services and how to access them as well as on-going activities at the community centre;
- Carry out all tasks respecting key protection principles including but not limited to: do no harm, non-discrimination, confidentiality and accountability and need-to-know principles.
- One year of relevant work experience;
- Knowledge of psycho-social programming in the humanitarian context.
- Computer literacy (Word, Excel, Kobo is an asset)
- Confidentiality, respect and non-discriminatory attitude
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Good facilitation skills
- Ability to show empathy
- Ability to work under pressure
- Fluency in Kurdish (written and spoken)
