Harikar strives to achieve social justice especially among the marginalized vulnerable groups and works towards eliminating all forms of discrimination against women by promoting their capacity to fully participate in community development. Job Overview:

The Psychosocial Support (PSS) Facilitator will be responsible for facilitating PSS activities for Women and girls; providing psychoeducation sessions at the center and assessing the psychosocial needs of beneficiaries and strengthening women’s positive coping mechanisms and integration back to the communities after violence and Promoting warmth and acceptance among group participants.

 

Scope of Work (Duties and Responsibilities):

 

  1. Objective 1: Facilitating PSS.sessions

 

  • Coordinate and supervise all psychosocial Support activities at women and girls’ safe spaces.
  • Organizing the group, ensuring time and location are communicated and ready and mobility needs are addressed
  • Upholding an ethical approach and doing no harm. Upholding core values and principles of the group: equality, freedom, empowerment, participation, responsibility, here and now, and learning by doing.
  • Promoting safety, by ensuring that group members maintain confidentiality, and informing (female) group members about one-to-one counseling and safety planning services.
  • Providing information about available services, including referrals to on-to-one counseling services for women and men
  • Provide group activities for survivors and other women that focus on building support networks, community reintegration, building confidence and skills, and promoting economic empowerment
  • Conduct psychosocial support activities targeting School students, liaise with School administration by strengthening youths’ voices and concerns are listened to.
  • Establishing a network of peer helpers, including the training and technical supervision of the peer helpers. As well as attending supervision and training courses;
  • In collaboration with Harikar program management, facilitate the assessment of psychosocial needs whenever required that would assist in identifying and providing a wide range of support mechanisms (i.e. assessment, short-term intervention, referral, etc.)
  • Participate in the identification of women and adolescents in need of protection support.
  • Create and implement cultural and social activities for women in a safe and friendly environment: such as sport, arts, music, dance,
  • Implement and strengthen community mobilization.
  • Encourage awareness of individual and group growth and change
  • Model and encourage active listening
  • Challenging negative attitudes and behaviors by referring to and implementing ground rules and principles
  • Encourage participants to express ideas, and discuss various aspects of issues that emerge from this discussion, such as basic rights, self-esteem, assertiveness, and boundaries
  • Assist participants to understand the dynamics and processes of the group

Assist participants to be aware of what they are feeling, and why

  1. Objective 2: COORDINATION AND NETWORKING

 

 

  • Maintain and strengthen existing networks through other service providers at the area level, to ensure that survivors receive quality services and support.
  • Work in close collaboration with the Volunteers and Community leaders to ensure the ongoing needs of at-risk groups, women, and girls are being met in the outreach-related activities.
  • Participate in conducting training for partners on relevant organizational development areas and support peer learning between HARIKAR and other partner agencies.
  • Actively engage in the commemoration of 16 days of activism and other international days on GBV as stipulated

  • Provide the information required to the center manager whenever required.

 

 

Summary:

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Experience, Qualifications and Skills:

 

  • Educational Qualifications:

            University Degree in psychology, sociology, or relevant field.

  • Professional Experience:
  • At least one year of experience in GBV or MHPSS Projects
  • Good communication skills including writing skills.
  • Strong management skills.
  • Strong training & facilitation skills.
  • Knowledge on GBV, humanitarian field.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Kurdish, Arabic.

 

Reporting and Supervision

 

Reports to: Center Manager

 

Expected Conduct:

 

  • Ensure that confidentiality is always maintained when sharing data and information about persons of concern;

 

  • Maintain cooperative relationships with partners;
  • Maintain high professional and ethical standard when both on and off duty, including upholding the principles and practices set out in the Code of Conduct and adhering to international standards;
  • Seek guidance and technical support when needed with “Do no harm” principle being the priority at all times.
